Leases are either fixed rates for low volume, or tied to volume for higher or highly variable volumes and fancier machines. Of course the postal fees are the postal fees, and you can't do much about those, so hopefully your accountants aren't looking at the actual postage costs and just at the lease price.

Once you have postage to spend, you get the weight, and you can either print postage directly onto the envelope to your printer. With - you just fill the postage with a credit card, I do $250 on my refill amount, but you can choose any amount. It also came with a free sheet of blank stamps, actually 2 sheets.
